Interview of WHS Senior

On Tuesday, April 21, I spoke to Wauseon senior, Eliana Barajas, about her time at Wauseon High School. Over her four years at Wauseon, she was a member of the girls basketball and girls softball programs. Eliana’s favorite memory from her high school career was her senior year of basketball because of the winning season that they had. We also talked about what she enjoyed the most from being apart of the athletic programs and she said, “I enjoyed having a big supporting community. There are many people who attend games and I love seeing everyone in the stands supporting our athletics.” We then spoke about COVID-19 and how it has affected the remainder of her senior year. Eliana expressed that she was, “in a state of feeling so many emotions. I’m mainly in shock and confused why it happened to my class and why it even happened to begin with. Everything feels so surreal, but everything happens for a reason and everyone’s health is the main priority.” Although this pandemic has caused her remaining time at Wauseon to be cut short, she is excited about her future plans and what’s in store for her next. Eliana plans on attending Southeastern University in Florida in the fall and she will major in Business. She stated,”I’m so excited to start my college journey in an atmosphere filled with people who want to grow, not only academically, but spiritually as well.” Despite everything that is going on, she is thankful for her time at Wauseon High School, but is also excited to start a new chapter in her life.
